Oviedo

Oviedo es la capital del Principado de Asturias (España), y es la segunda ciudad más poblada de la región, con 224.713 habitantes (2008).

Oviedo posee gran número de monumentos, siendo destacables su Catedral de San Salvador, de estilo gótico tardío, si bien está levantada sobre otro templo levantado en el siglo VIII y dedicado al Salvador. Otros lugares de interés son:

- Claustro del Monasterio de San Vicente (s. XVI)

- Capilla de la Balesquida (s. XIII)

- Edificio del Ayuntamiento (s.XVII)

- Convento de Santo Domingo de Guzmán (s. XVI)

- Hospicio Provincial (s.XVIII)

- Palacio de Buenavista (Obra del arquitecto Santiago Calatrava)

Oviedo possesses great number of monuments, being prominent its Cathedral of San Salvador, of style late Gothic, though it is raised on another temple raised in the 8th century and dedicated to the Salvador.
